Samsung Galaxy S Mobile Phone
The Samsung Galaxy S mobile phone has become one of the top-selling smartphones in the market, all thanks to its impressive set of features and specs. This is an Android 2.1 (Eclair) handset, which will soon be receiving an upgrade to the next version – Android 2.2 (Froyo). This upgrade will enhance the capabilities of the device and some say that it would achieve perfection after this.
Let’s have a look at the Samsung Galaxy S specs:-
This mobile phone has a 4″ multi-touch capable screen, with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. It supports 16M colours. Samsung have used a Super AMOLED screen instead of LCD here. [AMOLED screens when compared with LCDs display colours which look more natural and closer to the real object. They offer higher levels of contrasts. The power consumption is lower. On the inside this Samsung smartphone is driven by the powerful 1GHz Snapdragon processor. The internal memory can be either an 8GB or a 16GB one. MicroSD cards of upto 32GB are supported too.
In-order to execute web activities, like browsing, emailing, socialising and more, there’s 3G as well as WiFi support. The Flash Lite 3.1 browser is available on the device.
A 5 Megapixel autofocus camera comes packed inside the Galaxy S. Capturing videos and pictures and sharing them is made very simple. You can even watch HD videos and listen to music (of various formats) on this mobile phone. There’s a 3.5mm headphone jack integrated in it too. There’s the Android Market to enhance the entertainment factor as well.
Battery life quoted is about 6 hours on 3G and about 12 hours on 2G for talk. However, people using the phone do not seem to be getting that much from it. Other features include a proximity sensor, an accelerometer, a digital compass, the Aldiko e-book reader (from Android), ThinkFree, Swype, Write & Go and Layar Reality Browser powered by Tele Atlas.
Price-wise, this smartphone costs around £400 SIM-free. It is also available with contracts from various mobile operators.
